Blendix Design
Designprojects in China
Blendix Design was founded in 2016 by Lulu Fan and Karin van Paassen. They give advise to Dutch and Chinese governments, educational institutions, companies and designers. They organize workshops, exhibitions, lectures in China and the Netherlands.
China is well-known for its rich tradition and numerous crafts, but many crafts are in danger of disappearing. Through modernisation and the influence of western culture, the Chinese are losing interest in their own crafts. There isn’t enough innovation and a marked lack of interest with young Chinese people. The Chinese government is aware of this problem and works together with Chinese Art academies to try and find solutions to keep and innovate traditional crafts. Blendix Design, Shanghai University and the Public Art Coordination Center (PACC) are bringing together craftmasters, producers and Dutch designers to try and come to new insights and products.
Bamboo

A few months later PACC presented the products at the Shanghai Design Week and at fairs in other countries. The production of the designs in the bamboo factories starts in 2017.
