Group exhibition, at Galerie Wijnstraat in Dordrecht
The exhibition ‘DRIE’ will be on display from Saturday 4 March to 10 April 2023.
The exhibition ‘DRIE’ exposes three multidisciplinary artists who have produced work especially for the exhibition: Marianne Grootenboer, paintings, Karin van Paassen, contemporary objects and jewellery and Minne Smits paintings and reliefs. The title ‘DRIE’ refers to the autonomous and individual character of each of them. It is fascinating to see how, with divergent work, they still manage to create a unity.
Karin van Paassen exhibits objects made of black porcelain, combined with horsehair and lava stone. She is strongly influenced by design in other cultures, with the deeper meaning of the objects particularly interesting to her. The links of this collection vary in thickness, dimensions and constructions. It is fascinating to come up with large, massive and heavy necklaces and objects from soft tactile porcelain clay, while still maintaining flexibility of movement. The links and big tough round shapes represent connection. Porcelain is hard, heavy and cold and symbolizes pain. At the same time, it is a fragile and breakable material and becomes warm when worn on the skin. Elements that represent life.
Opening hours: Friday to Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
